It is the exhibition room itself.

The Shibuya Higashi Archives — Official Exhibitions App is the application that opens the exhibition spaces of the Archives.

Official App

The entrance is in the
palm of your hand.

The Archives has no physical entrance, no reception desk, no ticket counter, no lockers, and no umbrella stand. Instead, the moment the app is opened, an exhibition room appears in the palm of the visitor’s hand.

Works are not merely displayed on a screen. They compose the space, circle the visitor, draw near, withdraw — and at times, responding to the visitor’s touch, behave in ways not yet known even to the works themselves.

Alongside the permanent exhibition, Jirinpa, the app will continue to present special exhibitions at regular intervals. Each has its dates, its arrangement of rooms — and each is preserved in the stores as a new record.

The app is not a substitute for a museum. It is a new kind of exhibition space, where displays once difficult to realize in a physical building come into being in the most natural of forms.
